To the tooland so by removing it from my life Ibrought it back in and I started usingit differently and so what if you metnow is actually a really good time ifyou’re a teacher and you’re taking abreak from those tools summersespecially a great time if you have totear down your classroom and all thatother stuff or if you’re a student aswell if you remove those thingstemporarily from your life put them in abasement or a closet or the trunk ofyour car or whatever for a temporaryperiod of time and then realize what didadd value and what you just thought wasadding value to your life and and Ithink I think that’s important becausequite often we mistake perceived valuefor real value and it’s one of the mostcommon mistakes and the other thing thatwe we mistake we mistake just in caseitemsfor value adding items so we often holdon to many of these these are Kucharmints that we have for classrooms orstudying or whatever I was talking toRyan about this the other day your for along time when he was going through hispacking partyhe. Towaste my time on getting to the end of abook but I had this huge bookshelf on mywall huge bookshelf with 2 000 books andI realized it was part of my identity Ihad those because it made me look smartand when people came over I’d say ohyeah I’ve got this book in this book andall you’ve actually read Infinite Jestyeah okay but but the truth is that thevalue isn’t in the artifact itself thevalue is in the experience of of thebulk of reading the book and then byletting go of those books I could addvalue to other people’s lives becausesomeone else could then experience thosewords as well so I now have a muchsmaller physical book collection it’s aa well curated book collection maybe a60 70 books total and and those arebooks I tend to go back and referencethey’re books I’ve really enjoyed that Ilike to share with other people and thenew books I bring in occasion I’ll havea physical book where for the most partI use ebooks and so I don’t know whatyour prefered eReader is mine happens tobe a Kindle I andfact I will Alfa
